We have all heard the saying that health is a journey but not a destination right? But so often we all get caught up in that quick fix to get there. Myself included but we have to remember that there are no quick fixes in this journey!
Your health and fitness journey is about learning and discovering you not only physically but mentally as well. It’s about taking the time for you to be the best version of you!
Starting your health and fitness journey can seem impossible. We look at the end goal and it seems so far away but maybe that’s the problem we think there is an end. In all actuality there is no end and it’s never perfect.
The journey is about taking it one small step at a time. I have seen too many people try to do it all at once and they give up and say I can’t do this or it’s not for them.
I have also seen too many people spend so much money on these quick fix pills and diets to not only waste money but to bring them back to where they started or worse.
When we do this it kills our mindset not only to get healthy but we feel like a failure. I am here to tell you that you are not a failure. The health and fitness industry is set up this way. Check out this blog from Club Industry. It’s not you and you’re not crazy.
But I will tell you it takes work and time! It is not just a shift in nutrition and working out, it is a shift in your whole lifestyle and that my friends is why it is one small step at a time.
First you have to figure out your goal. Is about weight loss, building muscle or health ( For me it should always be about health and the weight loss and muscle is the product of that). Once you have that figured out then take one small step like movement and exercise. Once you get that down, constantly worry about nutrition and this is where it can get tricky.
There are so many diets out there and advice where do you start right? How about listening to your body. We are so different from one another that what may work for your friend or family may not work for you. And please do not go from one extreme to the other unless it’s a medical necessity.
Start by cleaning up your diet by eating whole foods. Drink half your bodyweight in ounces for water and gradually eliminate sugar. This right here will set you up for success.
Then my next question to you is what are you going to do once you get there? All that hard work we should want to maintain and keep learning and growing. Or at least I hope you do.
